'Charu Majumdar: The Dreamer Rebel' is a well-researched account of the iconic 1970s rebel who, in addition to advocating for an armed revolution, trained many others on how to fight for it. This book also chronicles Charu's early years, including his school experiences and academic achievements. Every event of his life is very well recorded to such an extent that makes readers time travel to that era.
Charu was a deity to some and a terror to others. In the forests of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal, Charu is still worshipped. But why was he regarded as a threat? In Naxalbari, his supporters murdered over 100 landlords in the name of his philosophy. In West Bengal, they killed over 1,800 police officers and government employees. They were hung from trees, decapitated, or beaten to death. Charu bore the brunt of the blame. You might be able to develop a clear image of Charu after reading this book.
To improve the reading experience, the author dramatised several portions of the book while remaining true to the facts. As a result, the book's objectivity is unaffected in any way. Other historical characters or Charu's supporters are also addressed in great depth, with their role and significance being underlined in every way.
This book narrates the story of the guy behind one of India's most significant movements. It is incredibly readable since it adheres to the facts and data to a high degree. "Our words will not die. They will live on," says Charu Majumdar, and perhaps that is what the author was doing with this book, to let Charu's message go on forever.
